We are offering a special cursive penmanship class for Middle Prep, Upper Prep, A Form, and B Form students who are new this year to Carden or who need some extra help and practice with cursive. This ten-week class will run from Tuesday, September 10th through Tuesday, November 12th. Students will meet after school each Tuesday from 3:20-3:50 p.m. with Mrs. Craghead in Room 3.
Students should gather after first rounds near the south doors to the East Wing hallway.
Parents are requested to meet with Mrs. Craghead in her classroom from 3:50-4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10th to get information on the class, as well as guidelines for helping their children at home.
Carden begins teaching cursive in first grade with intensive practice and review in second grade, so it can take some extra effort for new students to catch up. Also, because children mature at different rates, it takes some children longer to master the coordination needed for correct formation of letters and ease of writing. Extra lessons and practice can be extremely beneficial in helping children learn to read and write cursive correctly.There is a $100 fee for the class, which includes materials.
