| Spirit of Carden |
Students enjoy coming to the school because the environment is calm, challenging and fun. They experience "the Spirit of Carden" which inspires them to learn and do their best to measure up to the goals which Miss Carden has set for them and which their teachers try to help them achieve. These goals include not only a strong academic performance but the building of character which Miss Carden considered as important if not more so then learning the three R's. Children in a class of 18 to 20 students are taught the basic subjects around the teaching table in small groups of 6 to 8 students. It is this intimate small group setting that enables the teacher to offer individual attention to each and every student. Students are able to participate and communicate with the teacher so as to receive the necessary help. In this small group arrangement, the teacher is able to inspire them to want to learn, to feel secure, and know that the teacher really cares about them.Although students are held accountable for their work, it is the Carden philosophy that it is the teacher's responsibility to teach and reach each and every student so as to achieve Miss Carden's goal of "success for every student." |
